Learning to focus less on dieting and more on overall health and wellness

Challenge/Yaz

Today is December 11th, this means that I completed my 30 day NO DIET PLAN challenge. Depending on my weigh-in tomorrow, I probably only gained about one pound since then. Not too shabby. If you are a regular reader you know that I flip-flop in weight on a weekly basis but from then till now, it’s about one pound. I am in the midst of creating a goal plan for the month, in terms of eating and working out. A lot of times I don’t meet my goals because I don’t always take them seriously. Meeting the no diet challenge showed me that I can push forward even when the temptation is high. I came close to rejoining WW many times but this challenge always kept me in check.

About Yaz….. I stopped taking it about 1.5 months ago and I can honestly say that my mood has improved.  I have been less angry, moody, depressed, and have not experience rage like that time on Halloween weekend. I hate to use the word rage because it sounds so violent but I seriously felt that my emotions were out of control. I haven’t gotten my period yet this month but I think that’s normal since my body needs to adjust. (Note- I am not preg.)

After I finish my final that’s due today it’s CHRISTMAS SHOPPING TIME!! Woop, woop. Too bad I’m broke. I would also love to see the movie Precious. I heard it’s intense but that every social worker should see it. That would be me! Any Bostonians want to join me? Happy Friday!!!!!

  2. Precious was SO good! I actually bought the book (Push) after I saw the trailer and read it in one night! I cried the entire time…. The movie is (almost) as powerful and a must-see. It’s so up front and just honest. Definitely makes you think and made me even more thankful for my life and all my blessings.

    • Hmmm… should I read to book first?

      • I don’t know if you need to read it first, but I would say the book was better than the movie and if you can find it, then yes, read it! (I picked mine up at Target). I would totally lend it to ya except another blogger is borrowing it!

        • Oh no worries. I’ve got a book coming from bloggie friend Kim. I’ll do it the lazy way and see the movie. Have you read My Sister’s Keeper? Please say yes.

          • Sadly no. I need to ASAP! I did see the movie though and bawled my eyes out. So good! I’m sure the book was better? This is reminding me of ‘The Lovely Bones’ which is coming out soon I think? I tried to read the book a few years ago and couldn’t get into it, but want to try again before I see the movie. Perhaps over my break.

  3. Hey Linds,
I have been on B/C for the past 17 years (damn I can’t believe I am that old), and I don’t know if you know of a little pill called Lexapro. BUT, this med has totally changed my life. At the drop of a dime I could flipp out become depressed, moody, all of the above and this pill thanks to my MD saved me. At first I was like “I am not “one” of those people who need medication,” but it has serioulsy changed me.
Anyway, enough of the drama of “lifehood” right we all have our demons. I am big fan of Ell’s (Miss Diva) you have to post new videos of Queen E, the tomato one was hyster!!!
Have a great weekend and give a big smooch to El for me!

    • You are too funny. She does crazy things all the time so there should be a video soon enough. I’m so happy that you found a great pill on the first shot. Lots of time it takes some trial and error. I have def. considered meds for dep or anxiety but now I’m feeling much better. Thanks for your story and advice. I’ll give the Queen (haha) a squeeze for you. Have a great weekend Yvonne!
