Goodies Galore

Learning to focus less on dieting and more on overall health and wellness

Nevah had a lunch so goooood!

First I’ll start with breakfast. Despite my lack of desire for yogurt, I made myself a bowl of Stoneyfield yogurt with 12 mini wheats. Yes, I counted out half a serving. The lemon flavor was really good but the idea of yogurt started giving me the creeps half way through so I scooped out my minis and called it a day. THEN, I rocked a four mile outdoor run. The weather is better than beautiful and the run ended up being a throwback to the last 10 years of my life. Have you ever heard of the song by Trisha Yearwood called, The Song Remembers When? Well, for me it was the song and the scent remembers when. So many songs came on that reminded me of different point of my life from college on and  I also got some whiffs of different smells that took me back to those time. One person was wearing Tommy Hilfiger perfume which totally brought me back to 1999. Then I passed a house with an overwhelming scent of incense, bringing me back to college years. A Roots song came on reminding me of when I lived in Australia and we used to lay topless on the beach. Yes, you read that right. Me.. topless. This only happened when it was just my girlfriends and I. The point is, the run rocked and I reflected on some great times of the past.

Onto lunch: A huge salad with refried beans, edamame, hummus, Franks, romaine, spinach, tomatoes, and avocado. MMMMMM!

Yum.

Look at that avocado

  1. I count out my servings too! Totally counted out 10 dark chocolate chips yesterday. And yes, that salad looks delish. Smells totally send me back in time like nothing else. Definitely very comforting. My mom actually bought me her ‘everyday’ perfume when I moved to MI – I don’t wear it, I just smell it.

  3. Avocado is soooo good in salads! I control my portions if it’s just counting pieces, but otherwise I’m usually too lazy!

  4. We are doing tacos for dinner tonight… So inspired to have a salad now that i’ve seen your lunch! I love when I get sent back in time like that by a song, especially if I heard it unexpectedly.

  12. I pass this plant (some sort of boxwood?)on my normal running trail and its smell always reminds me of college because they were outside the dorms on campus. Oh and I tried to find that hummus at Joe’s tonight because you had me so excited to try it and they didn’t have it 😦
