Goodies Galore

Learning to focus less on dieting and more on overall health and wellness

Hey hoochie mamas! Happy Presidents Day. Hopefully you got the day off, unlike myself. Grrrrrr. I think I say this every Monday but I swear, Monday mornings are the absolute hardest days to feel happy going into. Anyways, yesterday ended up being a really nice time. We spent the day watching Lens good friends compete in a rowing competition. Gabe got 7th in the world championships and his girlfriend got 19th place! Awesome. They are the fittest couple I have ever met in my life and they LOVE to compete with one another. I have not once ounce of competition in my bones so I admire that quality. I became ravenous while we were there and treated myself to a Mediterranean Salad. I was pretty impressed with that option considering all the other food was grease city.

Goat cheese, olives, artichokes,

A few hours after the competition, we headed to an AMAZING restaurant called Bella Luna in Jamaica Plain. I had never been there before but had always heard great things. The atmosphere was comfortable and warm, yet modern and romantic. I wasn’t sure if I’d have the courage to bust out my camera at dinner since we were with Gabes family whom I’ve never met. I did anyways because the restaurant and food were too wonderful to not document.. Without explaining anything I started snapping away. Eventually Len mentioned that I have a food blog. They were interested and asked a lot of questions but I just gave the basics, “I take picture of everything I eat and then write about it.” I know that goodies galore is more than that but I really didn’t feel like getting into the details without talking about my unhealthy relationship with food.

Over the course of the night t I drank two black and blues (Guinness and Blue Moon). As you know, my typical alcoholic beverage is red wine but last night was wanted something hearty! I LOVE that combo together and highly recommend tying it.

I started with a simple salad topped with blue cheese and some sort of vinaigrette. Bella Luna offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options but one caught my attention very quickly–Portobello mushroom topped and whipped feta cheese and pesto linguine. I always thought that I didn’t like pesto but boy was I wrong. Holy mamasita.

The beers, salad and entrée left me half asleep but since I ordered from the pre-fixed menu, dessert was FORCED on us. The dessert consisted of a bunch of different things; I’m not sure that I can even tell you what they are were but just know that they tasted delicious. I sampled everything.

We were in bed by 8:45.

Today came and went pretty quickly. I’m sad to say that I ate shit all day long–just look at my breakfast.

Everything with veggie cream cheese

Who said brownies aren't for breakfast?

Not exactly a picture of health. I’m not kidding when I say that I felt my neck skin stretching this afternoon. I wonder if I have stretch marks there? Imagine? The rest of the day consisted of more packaged garbage. I cannot wait to see Mimi tomorrow, go for a run and start fresh.  We’re supposed to be getting snow. Good thing I have the day off!!
