Grocery Stores Gone Wild

You know when you find something in the grocery store that sounds so wonderful that you just want to jump on your grocery cart while it speeds down the aisle and knocks over the Pepperidge Farm stand?  Come on, we’ve all done this. Sometimes it even takes a running start to get going? Anyways, I found this orange, coconut and ginger marinade that was sure to please my buds and I just knew it had to be mine.  Visions of baked tofu ran through my head even though the cashier told me it would only taste right with chicken. What do you know, lady.

Fast forward to last night. Somehow the marinade forgot to have any taste and left my tofu lonely and in need of some more attention. Such a disappointment. I even grated ginger and garlic into the mix. Oh well. Luckily I made a balsamic reduction for the asparagus and used that for extra flavor. For anyone who hasn’t made balsamic reduction yet, get on it stat. Seriously, don’t mess around here and get moving.

As of today, Lennster and I have officially been together for three years. To celebrate, I will be eating meat for the first time in 1.5 years. Not just any meat–organic/grass-fed steak. I have always had MAJOR mental issues with meat of all kinds (like, I can’t get the picture of the animal out of my head while trying to eat it)  which has always made it difficult for me. With that said,  my body wants iron and I want steak. I have no problems with meat so long as we know where it’s coming from and how the animal was treated prior to slaughter. Len will be picking it up/cooking it and hopefully I’ll eat it.I can’t ever be sure though because my mental visions are strong and often mess with me.

Happy 3-year-versary babe! Thanks for loving me so much.

  5. Three years! Congrats!

And I often jump on the cart and roll down the aisles for no reason at all. For the safety of others, this is usually when i’m at the grocery store during an “off” time and it isn’t very crowded…

  8. Congrats and happy anniversary! Our is on the 19th (3 years, too). I hope you enjoy the steak. I like meat, but I can’t do steak unless it is absolutely phenomenal. Actually, I just can’t do chewy meat. It disturbs me!

  10. Happy Anniversary!!! I literally went to buy some chicken for the first time in years. I had it in my cart for a hot minute and then I went and put it back. I couldn’t do it! I know ALL about the mental image (damn PETA vids)! I really and truly want to eat some “real” chicken but after almost three years… I thought I should maybe start out with some already cooked meat (raw meat is really disturbing). Good luck and have a great night! 🙂
