Next weekend I’ll be participating in the Black Cat 20 mile race. For the last few months, two girlfriends and I have  been increasing our mileage each Saturday. We topped off at 17 miles. We  attempted 18 miles last weekend but only made it for 16 due to the insane wind. My “training” has basically consisted of one long run and maybe 1-2 other short runs during the week. I’m telling you, my workout habits went to shit. Anyways, I still feel confident going into next weekends race.

Remember when I bought new sneaks last month? They’ve been a disaster for my foot and ankle causing pain for day’s post long run. I finally exchanged them yesterday for a more supportive shoe so hopefully the pain will decrease and I’ll be good to go.

Our  long runs have been mostly successful despite the wind, snow, ice, etc. Two weekends ago during out longest run, I noticed a rip in my (awesome and expensive) running pants. I became obsessed with the hole and couldn’t stop touching it. Suddenly….. RIP… pants ripped all the way from my upper thigh to mid calf. OMG, it was freezing and we still had 5 miles to go. Never mind that my cooter was 2 inches away from being visible. Luckily the pants held up and kept my vagine safe and sound.

The bad news is that EMS no longer sells these incredible pants, even though they were just purchased in December. Too bad so sad.

We’ve also decided to participate in the Boston Marathon. Don’t yell at me but we’re running as Bandits. I won’t be using any of their resources and will probably be a slow turtle at the end of the pack. I did attempt to join a fundraising  team but all spots were taken. We’re pretty excited but I’m terrified of getting my ass beat. Anyone else running as a bandit?

  2. WOW so many races for you!!>. i MUST have a hair tie.. i know that doesn’t really count as workout clothes but when i workout.. i NEED a hair tie for sure!

  6. If you feel ready to go into a 20-mile race you can’t have been slacking on working out as you claimed! I’m impressed- I’ve never gone any farther than 13 miles. Also, welcome back! I’ve missed reading your posts with words such as “cooter” and “vagine” and of course your little rat who I want for my own 😉

  7. LP! One long run and a couple of short runs….you’re habits have not turned to shit. That is pretty darn good. Your long runs are more than 15 miles……that’s crazy. I signed up for a 15 mile race (Bataan Death March…google it, it’s badass) and I haven’t passed 10 miles yet.

    Keep up the good work. Glad to see that the blog is up and running again. How did I survive without it?

    To answer your blog question and go along with this post, I love my mesh lined shorts. I can’t run in pants, too damn hot, but sometimes I’d freeze my QUEVOS off on a cold night in New Mexico without my warmer shorts.

  9. That’s awesome! Not about the pants, the marathon. My dad ran as a Bandit in the 90’s and ran a marathon PR – maybe he was scurred someone was going to catch him? Good luck!

    I can’t live without two sports bras. The ladies can’t be tamed with only one, so I have to have backup. I freak if I can only find one bra.

  10. Hi there, sorry to hear that you’re not doing so well emotionally. I miss your posts. You are so incredibly funny and real. I have had my share of rough spots as well this year – but I have tried to count my blessings every day and most days they outweigh the not so great times.   11. Ahhh dang! Hope those pants aren’t too expensive. :/ I’m horrible at spending money so I work out in clothes with holes in them all the time- attractive, I know. But there is a limit..a rip like that deserves to be replaced! haha
