Goodies Galore

Learning to focus less on dieting and more on overall health and wellness

In the dumps

Who knew that simply walking into TJ Max could send me into a terrible mood. I went in there to buy a gift and suddenly felt like I had to buy something cute for tomorrows holiday party. The thought of trying things on in those dressing rooms makes me sick. Those lights! Ugh, I cant even. I hate shopping when I feel like shit about myself; hence why I haven’t done it in forever. All the sudden I was ready to leave and go eat some brownies. So, I’m home now eating the rest of Lens pint of B&J. He gave me his because I ate all the good stuff out of mine last night. And, I cancelled my hair appointment. Why cant I just be a normal person.

  5. Oh no! :/ I completely avoid shopping when I feel like crap too. Last time I was in TJ, I brought a few Operation Beautiful notes to post. One read: “Smile, you’re beautiful! (Even if it doesn’t fit) … and then, when a pair of pants I wanted looked like crap I completely reverted to my negative thoughts (all while staring at the note). I ripped them off and took a picture of myself with the note & instantly felt better. I’m totally bringing notes with me every time I shop from now on.

Anyway, the moral of the story is I’m sure you didn’t need a new outfit to look cute in (you’ll look cute no matter what), you saved some $$ by not buying anything, and once you’re done the ice cream …. it won’t be there to tempt you! Ha! (This is what I told myself last night after finishing off the junk…) Best thing to do is get up early and RUN tomorrow! Oh and reschedule your hair appointment! Like you said, you deserve it!

Ok, I just wrote a book. I’m done.

    • Great idea to bring those notes into the dressing rooms. We need them there with those wretched lights. Thanks for the boost– I shall run…. haircut.. not so much. How’s the studying?

      • Studying is going….. I’m pretty much done for the night. I plan on putting in a good 12 hours tomorrow and Sunday. I’m watching ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ right now and am already annoyed. There is no way these brides have 8 best friends to have as their bridesmaids. Btw, I didn’t realize you ran a marathon! That’s so great! I want to know everything!

  8. I can’t go clothes shopping either when feeling bad. Don’t worry the day will pass. You are beautiful and you’ll look great in whatever you wear.

  10. As bad as we sometimes feel about ourselves, there is always someone behind you that wishes that they were you.It sucks how hard we are on ourselves! You are beautiful inside and out, ask your BF, he will tell you.

    • Thanks Maureen. Isn’t it horrible how hard we are on ourselves?! So crazy. It shouldn’t be this hard to feel good. Enjoy the weekend!

  11. Lindsay, stop being so hard on yourself. If you keep repeating negative thoughts about yourself you are truly going to believe them. When you wake, tell yourself, today is going to be a great day; I can overcome any challenges, I believe in myself. I am beautiful, healthy and can’t wait for to see what’s in store for me. I repeat “you are a beautiful person inside and out”: NOW is the time for YOU to begin to believe in yourself. When you begin to think positively you’re whole outlook will change; it’s all up to you.
