Blogging woes and lunch

Blogging is incredibly rewarding but it can also be discouraging if it seems that no one is reading. My friend Jess, from http://upsanddownes.wordpress.com emailed me yesterday feeling a little bummed out. She’s questioning whether to continue blogging or call it quits due to lack of traffic on her website. Give Jess some lovin’ so she will keep her blog alive.

There are many food blogs out there that are sponsored, and some bloggers actually get paid to keep their site up and running. I hope that one day my blog will go in that direction too. For now, I write for myself and for the readers. I cannot say it enough– receiving comments from readers is one of the best things about blogging. We (I’m speaking on behalf of everyone apparently) feed off of your comments so keep em’ coming. If you’re happy with certain blogs and check them daily (like I do to many), tell your friends to check them out as well. Word of mouth is key to blogging success. Having readers helps boost motivation and drive to keep putting it all out there. With that said, if there is something you’d like to see more or less of, keep that feedback coming too.

Onto food. For lunch I had some quinoa salad sans quinoa. At the bottom of the container lies hummus for added flavor. I also packed a banana.

  1. I think its all about the style of the bloggers writing and their techniques. Some bloggers write in all caps or make lots of spelling errors and talk jibberish are just not interesting to me…I dont want to struggle to read what you are saying. I have to be interested in what I am reading.. taylor to the reader I guess. Also, updating daily is important. I am more likly, as a reader to check back if I know you are writing often! Loving this blog.. Lins.. you are really a great writer..I think bc you are funny yet realistic. Jess… if you are reading this.. keep it up.. your doing great. I loved your xmas gifts entry. 🙂

  2. I read Jess’s blog – she’s hysterical. She lives in the same city as me too. I don’t have a ton of girlfriends so it’s nice to read blogs from woman who go through the same kinds of things as me – both good and bad!

Quick question…how did you like the yogurt?

    Comment by Marla | December 2, 2009 | Reply

    • Yogurt was really good! I like anything sweet so I’m easy to please. I was hoping for flakes of coconut though.

  3. I love reading your blog because I really relate to your food struggles. It makes me feel less alone.

    • Hey Becky, you are definitely not alone. I wish all of us could go out and chit chat about how to cut the crap and be normal with food.

  7. Some people start a blog and instantly expect to get tons of comments (I am talking about an old coworker). You have to work at it and build relationships! 🙂 But what you said is true – don’t be lazy, leave comments and share the love! I’ll go check out Jess’s place 🙂
